Department of Statistics
In our college Statistics is an allied subject from 1997 onwards for B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Computer science, B.Com. and B.Sc. Micro Biology. From 2008 onwards it is one of the papersfor M.Com. From 2008 onwards it is one of the Allied papers for B.C.A. From 2011 onwards it is an allied paper for B.A. Economics. So in our college Statistics Subject plays an important role in various faculties. Knowing the importance of Statistics we decided to start B.sc Statistics as a major course both in tamil mediun and English medium. In 2011 proposal was sent to start B.Sc. statistics and on 18.06.2012 Government sanctioned approval to start the course. (G.O.No: 98 )
Association Meeting on 30.09.2016
Statistics Association meeting for the academic year 2016-2017 was held at the afternoon of September 30 2016 ,being presided over by Dr.S,Manimozhi, Principal. Miss. S. Arul Mary , H.O.D of statistics , accorded the invitation to all gathered. The chief Guest Dr. G.Nanjundan, Department of statistics. Bangalore University, gave a talk on RANDOM POINTS FOR B.SC STATISTICS STUDENTS . Mrs.R.Mahalakshmi, Associate professor endowed the vote of thanks., with which the statistics association meeting came to its closure.
Statistics is a key to success in the field of science and technology. Today, the students need a thorough knowledge of fundamental basic principles, methods, results and a clear perception of the power of statistical ideas and tools to use them effectively in modelling, interpreting and solving the real life problems. Statistics plays an important role in the context of globalization of Indian economy, modern technology, computer science and information technology.
